Maeve Angura

Viera - Rava
27th Sun of the 5th Astral moon
Gaurdian - Llymlaen, the Navigator

Origins

Called Mae by her chosen Tribe
Viera Tribe Name- Rhen Dei-ljla
She took the name Maeve after leaving her viera tribe. She found it in one of her traveling companion's books as they made their way to Thavnair. Angura came from an Auri family in Thavnair that she stayed with.
Maeve grew up in a small and very secluded Rava tribe in the jungles surrounding Dalmasca, near Thavnair. Her tribe did not interact with the outside world or any other viera tribes. She was deemed a female that stayed in the village. She often helped with hunting and bringing in food for the village to eat. She was enticed away by an outside male viera (Erenville) she stumbled upon on a patrol. A gleaner from Sharlyan who was gathering samples in the forest. She liked the idea so much she agreed to travel with him to train to become a gleaner, she was about 45 years old (Erenville is roughly the same age, maybe a little younger). However, at their stop in Thavnair on their way back to Eorzea, Maeve had been exploring and missed the ship. She stayed in Thavnair for about 20-30 years deciding she rather liked it there even if it wasn't the fancy island she had been originally enticed by. Eventually she decided to make the trip to Eorzea herself, knowing there must be more out there for her to see. She had only been in Eorzea about 5 years before the scions found her. She arrived just after the calamity.

Appearance

When I started playing FFXIV in 2021, Maeve was a max height fem Au Ra with red skin, black scales, and light blue short hair. She was cute but she was not herself yet. She switched to a max height Viera before Endwalker Launch (in solidarity of my partner switching to a bun boi) and she finally became my character and started developing into something more than just what I could create in the FFXIV character creator.-Around 80ish starting in ARR
-Max Height in game, I picture her around 6’2”/6’3”
-Short, curly hair, dark purple with very light lilac, almost white, ends (they were light already, and turned nearly white from light sickness on the first) Her sweet-heart hairline is very dear to me <3
- Has a large tail- not just a poofball but not really long either. You can grab and pull (which she certainly enjoys) twitches and wiggles when excited or nervous, but not as dexterous as a miqo'te or Au Ra tail
- Dark green eyes
- Curvy with a large chest (larger than max in game but not by too much) and thighs, along with some belly rolls. not hourglass and not really apple shaped either? Athletic and strong. Could probably crush your head between her thighs from all that dragoon jumping. After picking up reaper, her arms/shoulders/back are buff to match with swinging a scythe around.
- She has no set color to match her vibe. Usually Dark or Light, but hardly ever something bright. Greens, blues, purples, and black. She alternates between comfy and armor that's best for movement (none of the bulky shoulder stuff that they usually give maiming gear -.-) Almost always has either the Ishgardian Thighboots, casual boots, or the viera heels on
- I picture her with Tattoos that include Celestial stuff veering closer to tarot/occult in nature (not astrologian). Her tribe/village had a lot of focus on what we would consider witchcraft, and so focused on moon phases and tarot type things (again, not astromancy) she does not think about her tribe often (or can’t remember, unsure) but she can feel when certain symbols/ideas are very important to her. Dragon things were weaved in sometime between end of ARR (dragoon questline) and Stormblood being the Azure dragoon is very important to her and she very much connected with the dragons

NSFW Headcannons/Lore

Viera Anatomy
- According to the ffxiv wiki, viera are born with indiscernible gender, and they become distinguishable when they reach "adulthood" around 13yrs old
Personal Viera Headcannon
- this visible difference is really only in height
- all viera have both parts. Size variations of those parts are not correlated with gender at all.
- the gender differences are in the hormones
- nothing changes down there as they get older (other than the normal… growing that comes with becoming an adult) it's just what hormone producer is stronger; for males they have both parts but it's easier for them to get people pregnant and harder to get pregnant and females it's the other way around
Maeve Specifics
- Dick is fairly average in size
- She actually probably has an equal chance of getting someone pregnant as she does getting pregnant (not very high for either), but she always takes precautions until she theoretically begins having her small brood of kits
- Definitely a switch in bed, but really loves a good dicking down (mostly because it's a little more rare for her to get that as a large viera, usually people want her to do the dicking)
- All of her partners enjoy both as well
Estinien/Dragon Aether Headcannons
- He gets a smattering of scales if he's really aroused or bordering on feral. Shoulders, arms, legs, etc. Kind of everywhere.
- His eyes begin to glow red and his canines become more prominent and more akin to fangs
- His hands sort of shift to give him claws
- Dick is bigger and sort of tapered towards the tip, curved up and with lots of different texture, maybe even some scales
- Gets very possessive and needy when he's gone a long time without
- Uses biting to claim, showing off his mark if he feels jealous around others.

Friends and Family

She considers the Scions and a handful of NPCs her tribe, though Estinien, Thancred, Urianger, and Aymeric are her most trusted family/partners/lovers along with the Fortemps being a second home for her.Her TribeAlphinaud- She was incredibly frustrated with him in ARR, not really wanting to associate with him all that much, but at the same time understanding that she couldn't leave him alone to his devices. Though she was well aware that the whole thing with the crystal braves was not necessarily either of their faults entirely, she did beat herself up a bit for not paying closer attention and for letting Alphinaud do any of it at all. In HW as she watched him calm down and come into himself a bit more, she was very proud of how far he had come. Watching him interact with Ysayle and Estinien made her wish that she could have been there for him a little bit better sooner, but was glad that something finally seemed to click. She thinks of her and Estinien as sort of pseudo parents or older siblings to the twins. She cares for them and she knows they do back, but there are definitely times where the twins can get frustrated with them like overbearing caregivers.Alisaie- they became very close very quickly. Maeve was a bit caught off guard by how they immediately seemed to get along when usually it took her a bit of time to feel comfortable with someone, but right away in Stormblood they hit it off quite well, only getting closer as the expansions went on. Maeve is definitely a worried mother when it comes to Alisaie.Ryne- Though Maeve was incredibly unsure when first meeting tiny Minfilia on the first, it became clear quickly that this was not just a reincarnation of Minfilia, but someone all her own. She came to care for her deeply and watch out for her, being there for her when Thancred and Urianger were struggling and trying to knock some sense into them both so they could just be a happy family. She definitely goes back and visits quite often so that they can chat and she can keep the boys updated on their daughter. Thancred always reminds her that she's the girls mother as well, it's not just him and Urianger.Gaia- Maeve loves this girl’s vibe, but does get on her about how rude she is to Thancred. Had a talk with her about taking care of Ryne when they all left and also made sure to say that they just need to call it like it is. They're dating, have a little smooch and live a happy life.Y’shtola- She's a good friend and they sometimes have tea together with Tataru and Krile, but they're not terribly close. They can hang out in silence, but if they try to have a conversation it usually gets pretty weird because Y’shtola can forget that Maeve understands so little of what she’s talking about. Maeve does like to learn things though, it's just that Y'shtola doesn't have the teaching patience that Urianger does when explaining things. They do love to shit talk the boys though, and Y'shtola likes to give Maeve grief for everything she's trying to juggle in her personal life. But she's always there to help protect her when it comes to scion stuff.Tataru- Maeve is kinda scared of her, but in a… I trust this woman with my life kind of way. And tends to do as she's told when Tataru gets Maeve to have Estinien do things. Tataru is well aware that the dragoon has a hard time saying no to the viera and uses it to her advantage.Krile- Maeve was very unsure of her for a while just because she was new and was such good friends with Minfilia (who Maeve was mostly neutral on but had frustrations with). They've grown to be amicable friends, but they're not overly close. Maeve sort of sees her as the scion mom, the one that's there to make sure everyone is okay.G’raha- This adorable little cat boy is one of her best friends. They just like to hang out and she likes to take him on adventures <3 and then sometimes they cuddle afterwards. He feels somewhere in-between little brother and really really good friend. They can give each other some of the best hugs. She thinks G'raha's crush on Estinien is adorable and almost tried to push for something to happen, but G'raha doesn't really want to get involved in all of that. And Estinien almost scares him. They really just like to hang out together and go on adventures usually with the twins in tow. I can see him being a bit of a loner or perhaps being with Aymeric in all of this, though at one point he did have a weird thing with Emet-Selch on the first. She doesn't really hold any grudge against him for the events of Shadowbringers, but she likes to tease him about it every so often. They both had a very weird understanding of Emet-Selch and even Elidibus and don't hold much against either of them. They think back on them fondly even after everything and sometimes when they hang out, sitting on a rooftop that Maeve dragged him up to they talk about them.Haurchefant- Maeve has so much affection for this man. She did not want to sleep with him, thinking him too pure and giddy (rather like G'raha), but she felt comfortable with him, found herself growing close, cuddling and enjoying one another's company, though never more than that. Then when she came running to Coerthas after the banquet, he was there for her. She cried in his arms that night and he happily held her to keep her warm and comfort her as best he could. He helped ground her when everything in her life was spiraling. She fought for him and his belief in what she could do. And then he was ripped away. She fucked Estinien to not think about it. He always has a special place in her heart and a piece of her wishes he was still around because she thinks he really could have helped out with morale a few times. She also really wishes G'raha could have met him.House Fortemps- Her home away from home. Her home is with the scions (not necessarily the rising stones, just wherever they are). But when she needs a place to lay her head, and somewhere stable, and a man who will happily listen to all of her tales. She visits her foster father and brothers. And she feels better. They took her in as a sister quite quickly. And she enjoys the few times she's been treated with Emmanelaine being Emmanelaine outside of Ishgard.Moenbryda- as soon as Moenbryda stepped off of the carriage, Maeve was a bit smitten. It is not often that she feels small in Eorzea, especially where her comrades are concerned. Urianger is only a few inches taller but Moen’s a whole head, and Maeve very much liked how she felt when just standing around her. She also appreciated Moen’s lightheartedness and confidence. They definitely had a few little encounters, whether or not it was just Moenbryda pushing her up against the wall to makeout for a bit or even perhaps more… Maeve had a very good time. This was the first time she had lost someone she had cared about so much… and she was a bit of a mess, even if she wasn’t given the time to grieve properly. She had wanted to go to Urianger and make sure he was okay… but she hadn’t had the time and left it up to Thancred. She would have done anything to keep Moen there with them…. and there was a piece of her that definitely held it against Minfilia. They hadn't exactly been close anyway and she never understood why Moen would sacrifice herself for Minfilia.

Romance?
Thancred - Urianger - Aymeric

As a general rule of thumb, Maeve does not understand romantic feelings very well. She understands familial feelings, or the feeling that people are a part of her tribe, feeling safe, and trusting those around her with her life. And she understands the idea of wanting to Mate with someone. But since viera do not do a lot of romance, especially not outwardly, it’s not something she fully understands at all, it takes a few tense conversations from some of her trusted tribe members for her to understand the feelings she has developed for some of them.Maeve is Polyamorous, it's what she grew up with as a viera and it feels odd to say that once she loves only one when there are many that she holds similar feelings for, this was something that she had to work out with the help of her most trusted.Estinien is the one that holds the largest piece of her heart, and though she loves him dearly there will always be a place for the others she holds close in such a way, even if there's not a consistent sexual relationship, she thinks of them as her partners or even her lovers. Estinien doesn't mind, he can understand where she's coming from and doesn't hold much jealousy for them since he knows they treat her well, though some of them certainly like to poke the dragon.Urianger- Urianger is one of Maeve's best friends and she loves him dearly. They are often very soft and romantic with one another, cuddling together or head in his lap as he reads allowed. He always makes sure to give good pets. Even when he was a bit odd in ARR it didn’t phase her too much. She thought it was kind of cute how excited he was to watch her fight Ramuh. Urianger is one of the first people she goes to chat with before anybody else about anything because he's an amazing listener. She hardly ever asks for advice from him, but she also can judge her actions just by how he reacts to things. They like to gossip and shit-talk about Thancred together and giggle about it while he sits on the other side of the room and pouts. She often goes to him to talk about Estinien and he can help her sort her thoughts and feelings out. He's incredibly patient with her, more than she believes she deserves. But she would be nothing without him. And she's so glad that he and Thancred figured themselves out, she loves seeing them be happy and more relaxed than ever.Thancred- she was very unsure about him at first in ARR and rolled her eyes nearly every time he flirted with her, but she adored the way he would look up at her. And he loved their light back and forth banter when she would call him out on things. There was some type of friends-with-benefits thing in ARR patches, but it was only a couple of times, they couldn't decide whether they wanted to risk it when she joined, Thancred always claiming that he didn't like to sleep with coworkers. The first time they tried to be together, however, was while he was possessed by Lahabrea. Maeve had gone to him in hopes of getting out of her own head, needing someone to be a bit rough with her, or someone to be rough with. He readily agreed (which should have been a hint that something wasn’t right) and things started off rough and only got worse. Maeve had physically pushed him off of her, told him that it was too much and even apologized for not being able to handle it, but she was definitely surprised that things had gone in that direction. She avoided him until she saved him after the Ultima fight, but she let him recover as well. They worked on healing their relationship as friends before both of them decided they could try to be one another’s stress relief. Thancred would call on her when he needed to be topped, and she would call on him when she needed an outlet. She was nice to people all the time as WoL, and people were always way too nice to her, so Thancred let her be mean to him, and she would ask him to be mean sometimes as well. They had talked about it, whether or not it was actually a good idea for them to be doing this. She was perfectly happy looking for strangers, but they knew it was safer for it to be him. She really hadn’t expected to catch any feelings. She was just looking for a good time. And then he disappeared after the banquet. She had really missed him. And it felt like she was missing that outlet. Though Estinien was close, as they had been fucking through the entirety of the dragoon quests, they only base level knew anything about one another, so wasn’t the same. The part that made Thancred so special was that he knew her and they felt comfortable with one another. Either because Estinien was just an ass most of HW or because they weren’t really friends yet (still just getting to know one another through most of HW), it just wasn't the same. Then Thancred came back very hurt and so broody. He wouldn’t really talk to her about much, just get on her about how he thought Ishgard was using her… and especially after Minfilia… he was in his own world. Then he spent the entirety of Stormblood in Garlemald trying to gain information and probably just taking some time away from everybody. She did not handle it well when the first time seeing him after so long he decided to drop to the floor in a damn meeting. She was incredibly worried, and yet so unsure because she wasn’t even sure if they were actually friends still. She could also see how worried Urianger was and I think that was her first time it clicked that Urianger felt something for Thancred. But seeing him on the First. Looking fucking sexy in that coat. And taking care of this small child that Maeve wanted to wrap up in her arms and protect at all costs. And then seeing him with Urianger (very DILF, good dad, good husband) swoon she was done for. They patched up their friendship a little bit and started flirting back and forth together, and Urianger even joined in and she could feel herself slotting into their family. They began to help her understand her feelings for not just them but for Estinien as well. She owes them a lot.Thancred is one of her best friends. At some point after the Lahabrea bullshit they really bonded and even after the moments of Thancred being broody or just absent, she was always worried about him. And they just love to hang out or spar. She loves him and Urianger so much. She just loves to hang out with them. Though on the first it often times felt like she was inserting herself or didn't have a full place beside them, anymore she feels the most comfortable with then. And Estinien fit into that well once they got their shit together.Aymeric- - He is the softness that Maeve refused from Estinien in Heavensward and he has continued to be that anchor of affection and gentleness throughout her life. He also understands Estinien and his ways better than anyone, and has plenty of sympathy to give for Maeve’s back and forth and unsureness with the dragoon. Though he also thinks they’re both idiots who just don’t know how to talk to one another, he’s still there to comfort her when things go a bit sideways. Estinien also frequently runs to Aymeic for advice, which the Lord commander happily obliged, even if he often felt like an odd third wheel. But Maeve adores him and thinks of the man as closer than family. She slept with him once after Estinien was possessed, the both of them needing companionship and reassurance with Estinien’s disappearance. Before Estinien left after his recovery the three of them shared a night with one another, all of them knowing that Estinien would be disappearing soon and wanting to take the time with one another while they could.
After Ghimlyt dark Maeve was relieved that it was Aymeric that had been there when she woke. She was glad that he was the one who told her about Estinien, because if anyone understood why it hurt her so much, it was Aymeric. He held her when she requested it, joining her in bed and comforting her as the tears threatened to spill. She still had a lot to figure out, but with this she knew Estinien was perhaps more to her than what she thought.
He was always there when she needed someone to be soft with her, no matter how often she thought that a rough hand would be plenty. Estinien was the roughness she thought she needed, thought she deserved, but Aymeric is always there to mend the parts that end up more broken than she intended. Estinien softened around the edges eventually, and with that her moments with Aymeric became slightly less, but she also knows the man is married to his work, and knows she couldn’t coax him away from Ishgard. She loves spending time with him and Estinien. She loves listening to them tell stories about each other and their days as temple knights with Hauchefant.

Estinien

Originally all of her romantic-esque relationships would be in the same section but I had so much to write for this motherfucker that I had to make a whole new section for him and idk how to feel about that lmaoI’m not sure that Maeve can even tell you just what it is that had her going back to him time and time again after their first romp. I think they have a similar awkwardness with affection and that’s what drew them together. There’s definitely something about the way they handle their anger and other emotions. They’re both actions first people and they’ll worry about the consequences later, especially when it comes to sleeping together and feelings. They’re able to be so rough with one another and don’t have to hold back, knowing that the other can handle whatever they have to give, especially after Estinien’s possessions and the draconic changes that came with it. They eventually learn to be soft with one another, but it’s a lot of testing one another’s limits before they get to that point. She was a little unsure of him the first time they met, but there was this mysteriousness about him… the deep voice, strength, and near graceful footwork of the Azure dragoon. That first meeting in Coerthas (dragoon questline) she taunted and teased to the point of him agreeing to take her right there in the snow. A piece of her wanted so badly to fuck him, but the other way was just easier. He seemed so tightly wound, and she only wanted to unravel him. There were a couple more instances that played out quite similarly during the dragoon questline before he just… ran with the eye of nidhogg and she just assumed that he was going to end up dead. But he was at Aymeric’s side to assist with the wave of dragons on the bridge in the ARR patches. She was confused and kind of wanted to kill him, mostly for making Alberic worry. But both Aymeric and Haurchefant had only praise, adoration, and affection for him so she let it slide. She often started fights with him for how rude he was being all the time in HW, though that wasn't the only reason. She just wanted to have sex with him more and a guaranteed way to get that was to rile him up. This is when they began their 'arrangement'- calling on one another when the desire arose but free to say no. It was an attempt to keep themselves from starting a relationship, both of them believing they couldn’t handle one. It helped them get their frustrations out and he was there to help turn her mind off after Haurche…He attempted to offer comfort just once, trying to ask her about how she was handling things and she insisted that she was fine and didn’t need him to try and be something he wasn’t. He didn’t even know why he had bothered trying to offer comfort when he was hard and calloused in every sense. He couldn’t do anything while he was pursuing nidhogg anyway. He wasn't built for more, and certainly didn't deserve affections like that from the Warrior of Light. So instead he provided a willing body.Maeve was convinced that she wasn't built for affection as a viera, only sex and comradery. And yet that was the start of her looking at him a little differently, seeing him as more than just a piece of tail to chase. Maeve was starting to see a softer side of him. He started being a big brother to Alphinaud and find some sort of affection for the dragons and even Ysayle... and then watched Nidhogg consume him, which she blamed herself for. She was sure she would have to kill him, yet had to keep herself from berating Aymeric after his attempt to stop him at the ceremony. There was something about seeing him in the infirmary once he had been free. She had never seen him so soft and so vulnerable, actually admitting his exhaustion… and she felt her affections for him solidify. Though finally seeing the beautiful elezen underneath the dirt and grime of azure dragoon, he was still that mysterious man. She had known that he would run. Aymeric had said something offhandedly the night they spent together in the congregation, sharing a drink as they waited for Estinien to wake. But she still felt a loss. They had not ended their arrangement explicitly, but without a goodbye she was convinced she would never see him again. At least they had had one last night together before the disappearance. They met up again on the Steppe (Stormblood dragoon questline) and she felt something very strange, what with him being so soft with Orn Kai and seeking out the dragons to make up for everything and trying to make amends for what he did. She asked him to join her for a drink before he ran off again, but he declined, claiming to have more work to do. Watching him leave she felt her heart ache. A piece of her wanted to beg for his company, it had been so incredibly long and she truly did miss him. But that wasn’t the agreement, he had said no, and she would let him leave. She could not help but dwell on how she seemed to be the only one requesting company. He never seemed to ask for time with her. And suddenly she felt like an idiot, perhaps it was time to consider the arrangement null and void.Though the dragoon was often in the back of her mind, hearing rumors throughout Gyr Abania, she assumed to have her hands washed of him. Until she woke up in the congregation, with Aymeric very carefully explaining what had happened in Ghimlyt Dark... and how her rescuer had already disappeared with no word. She didn’t even get to thank him for it properly. Aymeric claimed to have asked him to say, and Maeve could only feel herself grow more disappointed and upset that the dragoon was gone. Aymeric held her close as she tried not to think about him and what felt lost, tears slipping down her cheeks, and focus on the daunting task she had before her.She was left to stew over it until she saw him in the ShB patches, and she was thrown into the memories of his mission in Garlemald. She had never experienced such an echo before, being put directly in the battle as him, able to feel his sense of urgency... the rage he felt seeing Zenos for the first time after Ghimlyt Dark. Tataru nearly begged her to ask him to keep working for them, knowing that Estinien had a soft spot for her (it was part of the blackmail used to get him to do the work in the first place), but Krile allowed him to go. She met him on a rooftop in Mor Dhona afterwards, both of them incredibly needy after their time apart and she led him back to her room in the rising stones (through a window of course, no need for the lalafels to see). They took care of one another until they were both more than satisfied, Estinien’s aether needing more after nothing but one offhanded night with Gaius. In the softness of the moment Maeve said something “stupidly” affectionate and the next morning he was gone. The moment of finding him before Tiamat was tense, with Estinien’s meeting of G’raha and Alisaie along with how their previous encounter had ended, they were both nervous about the other’s reaction. But they cooperated well enough and found time to talk afterwards and clear the air at least a little bit. They came to a slightly better understanding of letting themselves grow closer as Estinien worked with the Scions throughout EW. It was still a bit awkward between them, neither having been in a very affectionate relationship or anything you could properly call a relationship. There were a couple of nights in Thavnair where they would stay up together because neither could sleep with the adrenaline pumping. (occasionally Thancred would join because he thought it was entertaining to watch them be awkward as they learned how to interact with one another beyond pushing for sex). She called on him that night in the inn, wanting something so that she could relax and stop thinking for a little bit, but then Thancred stopped by to chat and Estinien hopped out the window (though stayed on the roof and listened in). Once Thancred left (telling her that Estinien was waiting) she asked him to just hold her instead, deciding that maybe sex isn't what she needed after all.Coming across the dragons in Ultima Thule she knew exactly what would come next. Not given time to process the loss of one of her best friends, her lover(?), and other best friend right after. She wanted so badly to berate them all after Emet-Selch brought them back, but she knew her own time would come. Instead, she rushed over to her dragoon, grateful that he was there and that perhaps she would still be able to send him back to Aymeric, even if she didn’t get back home. If it wasn’t for Estinien’s spikey armor, she would have tackled him to the ground. He tried to call out to her when she sent them back to the ship before dealing with Meteion on her own and nearly got into a fight with Alisaie who begged them to figure out a way to go back, but he insisted there was nothing they could do. Though he was frustrated with her for fighting both Meteion and Zenos on her own, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. She had made it back after all, and though she had been rather worse for wear, she had still beaten them. The ride back was spent in each other’s arms, finally letting themselves be a little more openly affectionate after nearly dying. They still weren’t ready to call it like it was, but they could acknowledge that they had been worried about one another. Everyone was rather hoping that this would solve their dancing around one another, but it still took a stern talking to from Thancred and Urianger after the events with the 13th in the EW patches for Maeve to finally confront the dragoon about what they were to one another (Aymeric having done the same for Estinien). And though it wasn’t perfect afterwards, it at least allowed them an opportunity to be honest about what they wanted.Dawntrail is a little more up in the air, but I've a feeling they agreed to let one another adventure for a little while longer before they settle down. She was almost mad meeting him in the Throne room fighting Galool Ja Ja, but watching him fight has always been turn-on and then when they interrupted him all he had was praise for her. Alisaie yelled at them to go get a room before they started fucking right there on the floor. The rest of Dawntrail was spent with them half-assed flirting over link-pearl and half of his time spent lazing about in her inn room while she was out and about. We'll see what the future of MSQ brings. I'd say they're more apt for adventuring together than they are for really settling down, though I think the idea of them having a small brood of kits is quite adorable.
